This is a key leadership role within the Engineering team in Cowes. With a responsibility for the structural design of product, ensuring that the design meets airworthiness requirements. The Chief Engineer ensures technical management and oversight of specific programmes engineering activities ensuring compliance to customer; regulatory and company requirements and procedures. In addition, this role ensures that the Engineering solution is delivered to the agreed technical quality, commercial and schedule requirement. To be successful in the role applicants will need to have: An Engineering degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or similar. Plus I Eng/ C Eng - Membership of a relevant Professional Body Extensive expertise in Aerospace Engineering with experience in designing, developing and manufacturing metallic and composite components.The ability to develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements within agreed programmes and timescales. Have acted as an Engineering lead and demonstrates a proven track record in the delivery of multi disciplined Engineering Programmes in the design phase and into production Have previous experience in acting as the engineering interface with customers.Be able to demonstrate extensive leadership experience across multi disciplined Engineering teams and operate as part of an engineering leadership team. Key personal characteristics include: Exceptional interpersonal skills as a leader. Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels but particular expertise in influencing at board level and within a senior peer group will be key. Being keen of intellect and able to juggle varied and abstract concepts An approach that is strong minded and committed, able to embody vision and engage people in the delivery of that vision.Ability to constructively challenge at all levels and influence and shape the strategy for the business.
