CAA International (CAAi), a wholly owned subsidiary of the UK Civil Aviation Authority, is a leading and globally recognised aviation consultancy company. We work closely with our clients to deliver and promote best practice in aviation safety and education, helping to create a flying world fit for the 21st Century. We provide technical advisory services, environmental consulting, professional training and aviation examination services.

The role

CAAi conducts Safety Assessments of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) inspections on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT) throughout the UK. We are looking for two SAFA Inspectors to join our dedicated SAFA team, undertaking a programme of ramp inspections and providing timely inspection reports to operators and the SAFA Co-ordinator. When appropriately experienced, opportunities exist to act as a mentor and trainer to other SAFA colleagues, as well as providing occasional training to third parties and attending international meetings to discuss SAFA related developments.

The candidate

You will need an appropriate level of aeronautical experience/qualifications, gained in the field of aircraft operations and/or maintenance. Examples include, commercial pilot, flight engineer or licensed maintenance personnel. You must be committed to working collaboratively within a team and with stakeholders, to a consistently high standard. A flexible and proactive approach is required to adapt to ever-changing priorities and you must be prepared to travel throughout the UK, sometimes at short notice. You will also need to have good written and verbal communication skills. In all cases, a good understanding of ICAO and EASA regulations is desirable, and experience of relevant auditing and inspecting processes would be preferred.
