Flight Operations Policy Officer
The CAA is the UK’s specialist aviation regulator and, through its skills and expertise, is recognised as a world leader in its field. Our remit covers four broad areas of aviation: safety, economic regulation of major airports, consumer protection and airspace.
The team you will be joining are a team of professional aviation specialists whose primary responsibility is helping to maintain the operational safety standard of UK aircraft owners and operators.
As part of the team, your role will be to develop and explain the regulations and policies which help to ensure that all UK civil aircraft operations are performed safely and meet international standards. You will interface both externally with other national and international organisations and internally within the CAA.
The ideal candidate
You will hold or will have held, a commercial pilot or navigator licence (or military equivalent), or will have current substantive industry regulatory experience that provides an equivalent level of knowledge to that required of such a licence holder, and will be able to use this experience or knowledge to make sound judgements.
You will be able to understand and analyse data, some of it technically complex, and develop high levels of knowledge and expertise in possibly new individual technical disciplines. You will also have good interpersonal and influencing skills, and will be able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of aircraft navigation, performance, unmanned aircraft operations or safety management systems would be an advantage.
