Our client in Co Down Ireland requires an experienced Composite Design Engineer to support long term aerospace programs. 
 
JOB PURPOSE:
Lead and support the Design and/or Manufacturing Engineering Teams to deliver composite Design and Manufacturing solutions to production against deliverables of quality, cost, weight and schedule.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and/or mentor other Engineers in new programs / projects, to ensure delivery within cost, on time & to specification, whilst ensuring risk and mitigation management.
Review and sign-off on technical documents such as bids, materials and process specifications.
Development and improvement of Engineering processes.
Promote and support a safe working environment in line with Company objectives.
Operate as a point of contact for all technical enquires relation to new Composite products.
Support and lead continuous improvement through 5S, Lean and Problem Solving.
Encourage and motivate others to make decisions and take calculated risks to achieve new levels of business performance.
Identify and lead projects that align with the business goals and the overall strategic direction of the facility.
Encourage cross departmental collaboration and knowledge sharing throughout the business.
Drive Design for Manufacture and/or Assembly principles throughout the team and ensure a consistent approach is utilized to ensure improvement opportunities are maximized.
Any other duties as required to support business needs.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Minimum of 3 years working experience in a Composites Engineering discipline.
Minimum of 1 years working experience within an Aerospace or Composites Design Role.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
Fluent written and verbal English language skills. 
EU Member Passport holder.
 
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
5 years working experience within an Engineering role, with 3+ years experience in a  Composite Design Role.
Previous experience coaching, mentoring and leading small teams.
Knowledge of DFMA principles.
Experience of applying structured Problem Solving activities.
Relevant management training.
Working towards accreditation of an Engineering body.
