Boeing B737 NG Captain

Wuhan Airlines requires for immediate and upcoming employment 20 Boeing B737 NG Captains.

With its upgraded remuneration package, China Eastern Wuhan Airlines offers one of the best B737NG captain packages on expat pilot labor markets. It also offers the coveted six weeks on/three weeks off rotation option.

Wuhan Airlines is based in Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei Province. It is also called the city of a thousand lakes. According to Wikipedia, it is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways passing through the city. Because of its key role in domestic transportation, Wuhan was sometimes referred to as the “Chicago of China”.

China Eastern Wuhan Airlines Co. is enhancing its position in central China with the participation of China Eastern Airlines in its shareholding. The company will add five aircraft this year, expanding its fleet to 50. It plans to transport 7 million passengers and 70,000 tons of cargo traffic by 2015. Over the next five years, MU plans to add at least eight more international routes from Wuhan to Japan, Korea and other Southeast Asian countries.

Remuneration and benefit package

For Option 1, 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotations

An all in package equivalent to 338,500 US$ before tax per year.

Before tax remuneration is based on after tax package of 220,400 US$ per year at a taxation rate of 34.9 %. The net of tax package encompasses the following:

A monthly remuneration package, including allowance and bonuses, averaging 18,300 US$ net of taxes as follows:

  • 14,500 US$ base remuneration
  • 12,000 US$ yearly loyalty bonus paid every 12 months
  • 10,000 US$ yearly safety bonus paid every 12 months
  • A living allowance of 1,200 US$ per month
  • A travel allowance of 10,000 US$ per year
  • ID travel privileges as per Airline rules
  • Expat assistance services at screening, induction and throughout the period of service

For Option 2, 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotations

An all in package equivalent to 316,200 US$ before tax per year.

Before tax remuneration is based on after tax package of 208,400 US$ per year at a taxation rate of 34.1 %. The net of tax package encompasses the following:

A monthly remuneration package, including allowance and bonuses, averaging 17,300 US$ net of taxes as follows:

  • 13,500 US$ base remuneration for the first three year term
  • 12,000 US$ yearly loyalty bonus paid every 12 months
  • 10,000 US$ yearly safety bonus paid every 12 months
  • A living allowance of 1,200 US$ per month
  • A travel allowance of 10,000 US$ per year
  • ID travel privileges as per Airline rules
  • Expat support services at screening, induction and throughout the period of service

In the case, candidates are required by airline to fly the B737 EFIS as well as the B737 NG, airline will increase basic monthly remuneration by 1,000 US$ after tax.

A three to six year renewable contract is offered.

Qualifications and experience requirements

Candidates must:

  • Hold a passport from a country with diplomatic relations with China
  • Hold a recognized airline pilot license with a valid and current captain type rating on an B737 family variants issued by a member country of ICAO
  • Have at least 3,000 hours total time
  • Have at least 500 hours PIC on an aircraft of the B737 EFIS or NG aircraft family at the start of employment
  • Having flown an aircraft of the B737 EFIS or NG aircraft family as captain within the last 12 months
  • Have experience on international routes
  • Hold a valid Class 1 medical and be age 55 or below at the start of employment
  • Speak English fluently and hold at minimum an ICAO Level IV English certificate or higher (must be indicated on licence)
  • Have no record of responsibility for any aviation incident/accident
  • Have no record of criminal activities

Preference will be given to candidates who have renewed their proficiency check (PC) within the last 6 months.

Assistance and Support in China

AeroPersonnel provides the best Expat Pilot support in China. Emergency assistance is available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week in English and Chinese.

AeroPersonnel representatives will be waiting for you at the airport on the date of your arrival in China for your screening. They will personally escort you every day of the screening process. They will be there again when you report for work and will assist with your induction with the Airline. They will also be there during the full duration of your period of service in China.

The Application Process

The application process entails the following steps:

  • Initial evaluation based on candidate resume and documents leading to screening invitation
  • Screening in Guangzhou/Zhuai including simulator evaluation, medical examination and ATPL written test (AeroPersonnel provides screening guidelines to prepare for the screening)
  • Upon acceptance for employment, work visa documentation process including non-criminal activity report, licence validation and background check
