Fleet Engineer Manager – Plant & T&RS
Band 3 - £40,000 - £50,000 dependent on experience

As a “one stop shop” for the entire network, our National Supply Chain team facilitates the effective procurement and supply of plant, materials and logistics. They’re also responsible for the effective management of a fleet of over 2,500 rail vehicles, including Traction and Rolling Stock, On-Track Machines and On-Track Plant. Accordingly, these rewarding roles are at the heart of one of our major focuses - enabling millions of people and tonnes of freight travel to travel safely every day.
Although Band 3s are based from Milton Keynes, the role is mobile and will see you work in different nationwide locations. As well as managing overhaul, modification, enhancement and new build projects, you’ll also provide technical assurance & approvals services. Taking the lead in engineering change risk management will be important too, as will completing audits and investigations and producing technical documents and reports. Put simply, you’ll do all you can to help to improve the fleet mechanically, commercially and contractually.
To succeed, you’ll need engineering expertise in areas that include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, plus impressive problem solving skills. You should also be able to cope with an assortment of technical challenges, often working with minimal supervision to deliver projects and using your specialist technical knowledge to make effective decisions. In addition, we’ll be looking for strong communication skills and the ability to both build confidence with our customers and generate challenging new business opportunities for the team.
