NHV is a fast growing international helicopter Transport Company, with its Support Office in Ostend, Belgium. Momentarily about 300 employees work for NHV.

NHV activities are situated in Europe (Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom), in West-Africa (Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast) and South-America (French-Guiana).

NHV daily provides off- & on-shore helicopter services for the Oil & Gas Industry, Shipping Pilot Services, Hospitals and Governments.

NHV is also an official Eurocopter Maintenance, Distributor & Service Center, with base maintenance stations in Belgium & Ghana.

NHV is licensed by the Belgian authorities as a Flight Training Organization (FTO). NHV has its own Flight Simulator in Ostend.

The Ground Operations Officer (Nominated Postholder Ground Operations) will work at all NHV-bases and at the Support Office in Ostend (Belgium).

The Ground Operations Officer (Nominated Postholder Ground Operations) is 24/7 in charge of NHV’s ground operations world-wide, which means that she/he needs to be accessible 24/7.

Main purpose of the job:

The Ground Operations Officer is the Nominated Postholder Ground Operations of NHV‘s Air Operator Certificate (AOC), following the JAR OPS 3 regulations and the Security Manager following JAR OPS 3 / EU-regulations. The Postholder Ground Operations/Security Manager is responsible for a wide range of safety critical processes:

Describing and maintaining all Ground Ops processes in the Ground Ops Manual (GOM) and the Security of NHV’s operations in the Security Manual (SecMan) a.o. but not limited to:

Helicopter movements on the ground: towing, taxiing and parking.

Passenger movements: check-in, safety briefing, boarding.

Luggage & payload: baggage and Dangerous Goods handling.

Heliport & airfield management

Flight Following

Security of NHV’s operations

Training of all ground ops personnel

Main Result Areas:

  • Long term Ground Support Equipment (GSE) & Survival Equipment (SE) planning (in partnership with BU’s, Fleet, Flight Operations & Maintenance).

In order to assure business continuity, airworthiness & optimal equipment readiness.

Manage lease-in, procurement, maintenance, inspections, overhaul and modifications of GSE and SE.

Prepare & accompany the introduction of new of Ground Support & Survival Equipment in the fleet.

In order to assure operational continuity.

Continuously map:

the company’s needs

market conditions

desk & field research

Establish & follow up maintenance, support and other framework contracts with vendors and suppliers.

In order to provide the best supply solutions (costs, timing & quantity/stock).

Continuously map & analyze the existing:

Supply contracts.

The company needs based on maintenance planning, provisions & historical data.

Prepare & assist with supply contract negotiations.

Follow-up all supply contracts.

Establish and Maintain a GOM and SecMan, containing all Ground Ops and Security procedures and training of Ground Ops personnel

In order to assure that all internal and external employees involved know how to execute their tasks and to ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with NHV’s procedures and objectives.

Define the required Ground Operations procedures (to the company’s needs) and put them in place via the GOM based on regulations concerned (CAA, IATA, ICAO, OGP etc.)

Desk & field research to keep the GOM up to date

Develops in close contact with the Business Unit Managers the GOM to ensure that the operations follow the correct and most cost-effective techniques and work methods.

In order to assure that all employees involved know how to execute their tasks.

Create and maintain a training manual (integral part of the GOM)

Create and maintain a training program for all ground ops personnel

Create and maintain a way of sending out Ground Ops Instructions and Notices to all Ground Ops Staff.

It’s the Ground Operations Manager’s task to ensure that all procedures are put in place, and it’s the Base Manager’s task to ensure that all procedures are being followed.

Assist the DC when crisis situations occur in NHV operations.

Is the NHV-liaison with the BCAA on all matters concerning the ground operations.

Ensures, via Business Unit Managers & Base Managers, that all helicopter bases comply with all Instructions, Rules, Regulations, Procedures and Laws applicable in Belgium and abroad.

Ensures that NHV subcontractors meet the required standards.

Communicate & work closely together with the other NHV departments & business units

Required knowledge & experience / Job profile :


Bachelors / Masters (or equivalent) degree

JAR-OPS 3 course is preferred


Min. 3 years of relevant experience in aviation.

Relevant experience in project management is a plus.

Relevant experience in people management & leadership is a plus.

Knowledge of financial management & budget is a plus.
