Position Description

This position is for the manager of a C-17 Field Services maintenance team working in support of Royal Air Force C-17 operations at RAF Brize Norton. This is a new C-17 position opening in October 2013; initially the successful applicant will lead and manage a team of 34 Boeing employees performing C-17 maintenance at 1st Line ('O' and 'I' Level maintenance) under the day to day direction of the RAF. From October 2014 it is anticipated that the scope of the position will change such that the manager will be responsible for all aspects of planning and executing C-17 'Home Station Check' scheduled maintenance activities at RAF Brize Norton. The successful candidate will: lead and integrate a team of multi-discipline international C-17 aircraft maintenance technicians and mechanics in a field environment responsible for daily organizational level C-17 sortie generation; work with the resident Boeing Field Services team on airworthiness and parts issues; manage and execute scheduled maintenance activities in support of RAF flying schedules; monitor, report and execute budget and staffing plans; develop and establish policies, organizational structures and report performance. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in managing technical employees in an aerospace scheduled maintenance environment, including project management skills, knowledge of military airworthiness and regulatory systems. Must have the ability to: interact with senior military and company officials; work independently under time constraints and stress; excellent communication and people skills; familiarity with supply systems and military maintenance practices and procedures. Requires proficiency working in a multi-disciplined environment; the ability to function in a demanding, on-call, operational environment and must be able to obtain a UK security clearance.

Typical Education/Experience
Prefer relevant Bachelor's degree and experience. However, a combination of other qualifications and experience relevant to the position will be considered.

Other Job related information
Boeing is seeking experienced managers that have worked in an aircraft maintenance environment, preferably with some background in planning, organizing and executing scheduled maintenance work against tight deadlines. Knowledge of military aircraft maintenance and airworthiness regulations is highly desirable. NOTE: offers will be contingent on successful award of a C-17 maintenance support contract to Boeing.
