Ground Engineer (C1) – 1 post
Abbey Wood, Bristol
Ref: 1370303

Unrivalled scale. Incredible scope. Rewarding complexity. Engineers at the Ministry of Defence provide world-class support to a world-class defence force. Join us, and you’ll be instrumental to defending Britain’s interests at home and overseas. There’s no bigger or better place to develop your career.

Your role

You’ll help our forces be the best in the world as part of Defence Equipment & Support – the specialist organisation responsible for equipping and supporting the UK’s Armed Forces. Responsible for a team of engineers and civil servants, you’ll truly work at the cutting edge of technology in partnership with industrial partners and military personnel.

It’s the ultimate engineering challenge – supporting a large range of airfield support equipment or sub-systems and ground support equipment, including aircraft refuellers, snow clearance vehicles, and ground power units. Your remit will vary from safety management of your equipment ranges to providing technical input into procurement.

Your background

This senior role requires a BEng degree and substantial training, experience to IPD Stage 1, or education to HND or equivalent with a nationally recognised apprenticeship and engineering management experience. This will be matched by a proven track record of project management and knowledge of ground support equipment in the air environment.

Excited about the range of projects on offer, you will bring a sound understanding of the way the military uses its equipment, ideally from working in the military, a consultancy, or with one of our suppliers. Your talent for solving practical problems will be matched by experience of managing design issues or acting in a design authority role.

Your reward

We offer an open, flexible and supportive working environment plus a good pension and benefits package. From training and support to gain qualifications, through to the diversity of your role, you’ll enjoy excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.
