Key Purpose
To direct the movement of aircraft within an assigned airspace to provide a safe, orderly and expeditious air traffic service.

Key Accountabilities
* Direct the movement of aircraft within an assigned air space and to provide a safe, orderly and expeditious air traffic service
* Prevent collisions between aircraft                                                                                   
* Prevent collisions between aircraft on the taxiway and manoeuvring area and any obstructions on that area 
* Ensure self-briefing on latest TIs, SIs and weather information
* Coordinate with approach to provide best sequence of inbound and outbound aircraft
* Ensure standard separation between all inbound and outbound aircraft in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and unit procedures
* Provide flight information service to aircraft operating in the air traffic control zone and issue IFR/VFR clearances to pilots
* Provide flow control and slot allocation to departing aircraft
* Provide ‘On the Job Training’ to new members of staff when required to do so.
* Submit all planned and unplanned absences through the Serco My HR portal
* Ensure continuous access to information on Serco Our World and Q-Pulse
* Plan and take annual leave in accordance with unit and company policy.
* Provide weather information to pilots
* Advise the MET office of significant weather changes
* Co-ordinate runway inspection and maintenance with least disruptions to flights
* Monitor aerodrome equipment to ensure serviceability
* Provide alerting service for aircraft in emergency and notify appropriate organizations regarding aircraft in need of search and rescue aid, and assist such organizations as required
* Prepare ROSI (report of the safety incidents) according with reporting procedure for incidents, accidents or safety related occurrences
* Coordinate VFR traffic with adjacent control towers
* Essential technical and professional skills , knowledge and qualifications
* Validation of Aerodrome ratings for a minimum of 3 years at a major international airport.
* A valid relevant medical certificate
* Successful completion of the relevant ICAO courses
* Successful completion of on the job training
* Full understanding of rules and regulations
* Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
* ATC License
* An ability to make correct decisions independently under stress

Awareness of the Integrated Management System and the content of the Environment, Quality, Health & Safety and Information Security Policy Statements;

Understanding of personal responsibilities and contribution to achieving compliance with the Integrated Management System requirements,(including but not limited to competence to perform safety critical roles, legal requirements, control measures arisen from environmental impacts and aspects, job safety analysis and information security risk assessment) and the potential consequences of departure from the arrangements in place to deliver the commitments stated in the policies statements above;

To exercise a personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions

To use safety equipment (including PPE) as required and intended and observe that this is also enforced among subcontractors and third parties working in Serco’s controlled premises/systems

Promote a good HSQE and Information Security culture among their peers, subcontractors and third parties;

Lead by example and look at ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimize the generation of waste through personal performance and raise recommendations on how to improve existing processes on this regard within/outside their departments through their Line Manager, Departmental Safety Meetings and any other appropriate available channels;

Protect information assets and data including both electronic and paper based from all threats whether internal, external, deliberate or accidental;

Promote a good HSQE and Information Security culture among their peers, subcontractors and third parties;
