LEAD QUALITY ENGINEER (Austria)
My Client requires an experienced SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER WITH COMPOSITES MRB EXPERIENCE for long term contract in Upper Austria.
# The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Operational performance of the supplier as assigned by Supply Chain and Operations leadership.
# Responsibilities include Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Quality Control, Material Planning Logistics and tactical Supply Chain.
# The position interacts with both internal and external customers at high frequency and with multiple levels within the organisation of the business unit, supplier and affected external customers.
# This position leads a team of Aero structures and supplier employees through both direct and indirect reporting relationships.
# The team performs all necessary activities to achieve immediate short term performance and minimise medium and long term risk to the Aero structures business unit for suppliers that are severely under performing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
# Demonstrates operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, cost and organizational development.
# Maintains compliance to all regulations, laws and management systems requirements.
# Prioritizes daily activities on the shop floor, escalating issues for real time resolution.
# Drives long term actions that position the supplier to return to acceptable operational performance.
# Completes due diligence activities to identify and assess supplier operational risks.
# Recommends & implements mitigation plans to ensure delivery of products.
# Develops & refines manufacturing and business processes to achieve required demonstrated output.
# Standardizes best practices across operations at the supplier.
# Tracks and communicating the ongoing performance of the supplier to the established recovery metrics.
# Ensures supplier is capable of re-assuming operations management entirely with their own resources.
# Manages capacity, demand, & resource plans (equipment, tooling & people) to ensure rate readiness.
# Ensures demonstrated yield is used in all manufacturing planning.
# Supports the demand management planning process to meet OTD targets and future rate breaks.
# Ensures successful implementation of new program development activities.
# Develops effective shop floor visuals and efficient material flow in the value stream.
# Ensures effective implementation of product design and manufacturing technology changes.
# Champions lean transformation at the supplier through the use of CI tools and processes.
# Drives supplier engagement and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality & Supply Chain.
# Provides the necessary coordination of activities with internal and external suppliers and customers.
# Maintains alignment with commercial agreements between the supplier and the business unit.
# Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business related field.
# Proven Aerospace Operations experience with proven experience in a leadership role.
# Proven Quality track record within Aerospace Composites environment.
# Composites repair knowledge.
# Certified in Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma.
# Demonstrated ability to establish and a Continuous Improvement culture.
# Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities.
# Strong English language written and verbal communication skills across the organization, from working level to executive.
# Results oriented, with a strong bias for action.
# Ability to develop and motivate personnel to meet operational expectations
# Participative management philosophy that leads by example.
# Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate, influence and lead across value streams, functions, and sites.
