The purpose of the job is to maintain safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic, preventing collision between aircraft in the air and also between moving aircraft upon the manoeuvring area and the aprons, and assisting in preventing collision between aircraft and obstructions on the manoeuvring area. Also, notify appropriate organisations regarding any reportable incidents such as aircraft in need of search and rescue, and assist such organisations as required.
Provide ATS in Class D airspace;
Liaise with internal and external agencies;
Follow and comply with the company and Sharjah DCA Safety Management System (SMS PRO);
Perform ancillary tasks as required to maintain effective running of the ATC department;
Interact effectively and manage other operational ATC team members;
Control of Aircraft on the manoeuvring area;
Control of vehicular activity within the manoeuvring area;
Organize and control of air traffic approaching, departing and flying in the vicinity of the Control Zone (CTR);
Issuing information and instructions to aircraft;
Co-ordination with adjacent agencies as required;
Providing an alerting service to airfield and external agencies;
Operation of airport, ATC and related systems in accordance with published procedures;
Maintenance of GCAA and company administrative records in accordance with published procedures;
Ensuring movement areas and associated facilities are adequately inspected;
Checking of ATC related equipment status, and reporting any in-service abilities appropriately;
OJTI endorsement: the supervision, training and reporting requirements detailed in the unit training plan;
Oversight, training and delegation of work to ATCOs working in the control tower;
Initiation of Bird Control activities when required;
Selection of airfield lighting to assist pilots;
Participation in regular emergency training scenarios in line with the unit ECT scheme;
Maintenance of ATC license requirements, including a current valid GCAA Class 3 Medical certificate;
Ancillary tasks including (but not exhaustive):
Answering and processing all telephones call made to ATC;
Processing CADAS/AFTN messages;
FPS processing and completing movement logs;
Assist in administrative duties;
Attend courses as appropriate to facilitate performing the required ANS functions or services prescribed by the Sharjah ANS contract.
Maintain currency in ATC roles and licensing requirements at all times;
Prioritise ATC workload according to safety requirements and airport requirements;
Respond to requests from pilots for ATC services in an appropriate and timely manner;
Demonstrate adaptability in the working environment and a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities;
Operate the Tower Assistant Working Position (TAWP) during periods of ATCA absence;
Behave in a manner which is polite and professional at all times. Maintaining a high standard of personal presentation at all times.
Essential technical and professional skills , knowledge and qualifications
Aerodrome Control Air Traffic Control Licence with a minimum of 3 years experince.
Preferably 5 years total experience of validated ATC experience at a recognised airport.
A minimim of 3 years Civilian Air Traffic Control Experience.
