Minimum Requirements:

  1. Rated Captains: 1000 hours PIC on type
  2. Current on type within 12 months
  3. 3000+ hours total time
  4. Maximum age: 55 years of age
  5. Valid/current ATPL, Valid/current First Class Medical
  6. No history of incidents or accidents. Must provide a letter from your current/previous employer.
  7. ICAO Level 4 (or equivalent) English proficiency
  8. No criminal history. 
  9. No license limitations - If you have the Circ-approach VMC only" limitation on your license, you must get the limitation removed before you can begin training. You can attend the interview with the limitation on your license, but it must be removed before the CAAC check ride. 
  • Domicile: Chengdu, China
  • Contract Term: Rated: 3 years, renewable. 
  • Compensation: UP TO $309,600 per year!
  • Based on 80 hours per month.

 Type rated Captains:

Option 1:  Living in China (30 days paid annual leave)

Total Compensation: $25,800 per month.
Base salary: $23,800/mo
Housing:      $ 500/mo
Travel:        $ 500/mo
Contract Completion Bonus: $36,000 (paid at the end of 3 years)
Overtime: $220/hr.

Option 2:  Living in China (45 days of paid annual leave)

Total Compensation: $24,500 per month.
Base salary: $22,500/mo
Housing:      $ 500/mo
Travel:        $ 500/mo
Contract Completion Bonus: $36,000 (paid at the end of 3 years)
Overtime: $200/hr.

Option 3:  Commuter.   (6 weeks on, 2 weeks off, or 92 days annual leave)

Total Compensation:  $21,600 per month
Base salary: $19,600/mo
Housing:      $ 500/mo
Travel:        $ 500/mo
Contract Completion Bonus: $36,000 (paid at the end of 3 years)
Overtime: $180/hr.

Option 4:  Commuter. (6 weeks on, 4 weeks off)
Total Compensation:  $17,500 per month
Base salary: $15,500/mo
Housing:      $ 500/mo
Travel:          $ 500/mo
Contract Completion Bonus: $36,000 (paid at the end of 3 years)
Overtime: $170/hr.

Option 5:  Commuter. (4 weeks on, 4 weeks off)
 Total Compensation:  $15,000 per month
Base salary: $13,000/mo
Housing:      $ 500/mo
Travel:          $ 500/mo
Contract Completion Bonus: $36,000 (paid at the end of 3 years)
Overtime: $160/hr.

Signing Bonus for CAAC license holders: $30,000

Contract Renewal Bonus:  $30,000

Safety Bonus:  Upon the completion of 3 year contract, if you decide to renew the contract, you will be rewarded for safe operation.

For the first 1000 hours of safe operation: $15,000

For the second 1000 hours of safe operation: $18,000

For the third 1000 hours of safe operation: $21,000

The bonus will only be paid for full 1000 hour blocks.  For example, if you work 2,250 hours over three years without safety incident, you would receive the $15,000 bonus, and the $18,000 bonus, but not a prorated amount for the extra 250 hours.

  • Five free round trip tickets per year on Chengdu Airlines (pilot and family).
  • Unlimited jumpseating for pilot
  • Training pay: $300 per day until checked to the line.
  • Sick Leave: 10 days per year

Additional Information:  Chinese income taxes will be paid by Chengdu Airlines. Expat status may dramatically reduce your national tax liability. Consult your CPA for tax advice. Note about Compensation and Taxation:
The compensation amounts listed above have been provided by the airline.  The airline has agreed to pay all taxes owed in China on the different compensation amounts and provide a tax receipt to the pilot. All tax matters are handled by the airline including payment of tax and provision of a tax receipt. WASINC does not pay taxes on behalf of either the pilot or airline, nor does it provide tax receipts.  As taxes in China vary by jurisdiction and the type of payment received, we highly recommend that all candidates confirm directly with the airline as to how much tax is paid in China in order to obtain a full understanding of the compensation associated with the job listing.  Pilots are ultimately responsible for any tax owed in their home country which may or may not be affected by tax paid by the airline.
